URGENT: NP Scope Bill Passes and Heads to the Governor's Desk - Contact the Governor Now!
AB 890 (Wood) is a dangerous bill that would undermine physician-led care and could create a lower tier of care for low-income patients. This bill passed the Legislature on the final night of this year’s legislative session and will await action from Governor Newsom this month.
 
Physicians are urged to contact the Governor and ask him to protect patient safety and VETO AB 890.

Cal/OSHA releases new guidance for health care facilities on use of N95 masks and other respirators
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, better known as Cal/OSHA, on August 6, 2020, released interim guidance for health care employers that may be facing shortages of respirators during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. While the supply chain for respirators (such as N95 masks) has improved, it is not yet fully restored, according to Cal/OSHA. Gov. Newsom signs landmark CMA-supported law to protect children from candy-flavored tobacco
Despite fierce opposition from Big Tobacco, California Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday signed into law a bill that will end the sale of flavored tobacco products – including minty menthol. With the governor’s signature on SB 793 (Hill, D-San Mateo), California will have among the nation's strongest protections against Big Tobacco’s business model that markets deadly tobacco products to kids, especially in low-income and Black and Brown communities. Physician input needed: CMA telehealth survey
The California Medical Association (CMA) is surveying physicians regarding their experience with telehealth, both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The survey will collect information about how physicians are using telehealth, their experiences with it to date and whether they plan to continue using telehealth moving forward. CMA will use the results of this survey to design educational opportunities that are tailored to the needs of practices.
