Vaccines in Kern County
Good Afternoon,

As you know, the Kern County Public Health Services Department has been holding mass vaccination clinics at the Fairgrounds. If you have patients that received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Fairgrounds and are wondering about their second dose, following is information outlining the process:

Approximately one week prior to when the 2nd dose is due, patients will receive a phone call from the Public Health team to schedule their visit at the phone number they provided when they scheduled their original appointment.
If they do not receive a phone call, they should call 661-321-3000 one week prior to when their second dose is due to schedule their appointment.

They should bring their vaccination card to their second dose appointment. If they have misplaced their card, they are asked to call 661-321-3000 prior to their scheduled second dose appointment to have a replacement card created.

Public Health is still looking for individuals who can administer vaccine at their mass vaccination clinics and they are able to compensate individuals or practices who can provide staffing. If you and/or your practice is interested in administering vaccines at the mass vaccination clinics, please answer the following survey. The survey information will be forwarded to Public Health and someone will contact you about your availability and other details.

I'm sure you have also heard that Blue Shield of California has become the third party administrator for vaccine allocation for the State of California. Public Health continues to receive limited allocations of vaccine for Kern County while we are in transition to Blue Shield. Stay tuned while we learn more about the transition in the coming week or so.
