A "BIG" BACK TO SCHOOL WELCOME !

Welcome KCS Elementary families to a new school year.  I am more than excited to start of a fresh new school year with you.  What an amazing honour it is to serve as your elementary school vice-principal.

I love the freshness that a new school year brings.  Classrooms have been prepared, the hallway floors have been waxed and many walls and classrooms have been painted.  The playground is ready for use and the teachers are anticipating the excitement and joy that only kids can bring.  The start of a new school year provides us with fresh opportunities to meet new teachers, meet and create new friends, and to reconnect with those we haven't seen in awhile.

This school year will be a fantastic year.  I look forward to meeting you and your family.  Please don't hesitate to stop by the office and introduce yourself.

On behalf of myself and the entire ES team.

Mr. Brad Martens
Elementary School Vice-Principal

READY-SET-GO!

I know you and your child/ren are eagerly awaiting to know who with be their teacher/s this year.  I am excited to share with you that all Elementary School families will receive a Teacher Welcome Letter by the end of day on Monday August 26th.

On the first day of school , students are to arrive by the 8:35am bell.  If you are new to our school, you may find it beneficial to arrive a tad bit earlier.  Students are to follow the regular morning arrival routine by lining up at their respective outside doors along the back of the school.  A welcome desk accompanied by balloons and cheerful staff will be in the front courtyard to guide and direct you to the correct location.

We will not be starting the year off by assembling in the gym.  All parents are welcome to join us for our first Welcome Chapel on Wednesday the 4th at 9:00am. There I will be introducing myself along with our new teachers and support staff.

BE INTENTIONAL
Everything we do MATTERS.

I was reminded this week when I came across a quote from St Francis of Assisi, "Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words."  What a reminder for me that my actions more so than my words speak volumes.  In our senior leadership team meetings this week, we talked about how everything we as leaders and teachers do, either points our students toward Jesus or points them away from  Jesus; there is no middle or neutral ground.  Everything we do matters one way or the other.  It is so easy to get caught up in the latest and greatest and to be so self-focused, that being intentional with how one lives can so easily be lost in the noise.  This had me thinking that it is so very important for me to be intentional with how I live and to know that being intentional brings glory to God.

So what does living intentionally look like?  Most importantly we should be intentional about connecting to our Farther in heaven.  When we are intentional about connecting with God, His desires become our desires and it is God who works in us to will and to act according to his good purpose.  Intentional living is not self-focused.  Being intentional in this way, brings glory to God.

In the context of KCS and our school community, being intentional means spending quality time with each other, building school community and purposefully working towards making KCS a better place to be.  It means holding our teachers and school leaders up in prayer, and coming along side those who need encouragement.  It means curbing gossip and always speaking truth and love into all situations.  Being intentional always points back to God.

I encourage you, as we enter a new and fresh school year, to be intentional.  From the parking lot conversations and get together with friends, to supporting the school and the school's mission and vision, allow the light and love of Christ to shine through in your actions.

Philippians 2:13 (NIV) ~ for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
