More than 500 adorers gather for 4th Annual Eucharistic Congress Sept. 10

Nearly 300 adults and 250 youth attended the 4th Annual Eucharistic Congress last weekend, the largest turnout in recent history. Following Eucharistic Adoration during the daytime session, Bishop Johnston offered his closing thoughts, “As long as we stay close to Him, we’ll be in good shape,” he said. “There’s an obvious and clear path forward. That’s the Eucharist.” Bishop Johnston then gave attendees a mission to encourage a stronger devotion to prayer and Eucharistic Adoration in their own parishes, saying, “Make this an opportunity for grace in your parish.”

From the Catholic Key | Home is here

For Anali, Kansas City is home. Her hopes for a future here are not diminished by her love of her heritage. They are enhanced because she is acutely aware of everything it cost her family to get here.

For nearly half a century, the Catholic Church in the United States has celebrated National Migration Week, an opportunity for the Church to reflect on the circumstances confronting migrants, including immigrants, refugees, children and victims and survivors of human trafficking. National Migration Week will take place Sept. 19-25, 2022, and will climax with the Vatican-sponsored World Day of Migrants and Refugees. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees.”

  • Pray for the vocation programs for the diocese – and for more people to be open to God’s call to the priesthood, the permanent and religious brothers and sisters.
  • Personally thank your priest on Priesthood Sunday, or any day.
  • Send a thank you note or letter to your priest.
  • Invite children in PSR or school classes to write or draw notes of appreciation.
  • Invite your priest for dinner with your family or friends.
  • Send a card or letter to a priest who used to serve at your parish [your parish/mission office can assist you with addresses].
