KDIGO 2020 Blood Pressure Management in Chronic Kidney Disease Guideline Approaching Publication
The KDIGO 2020 Clinical Practice Guideline on the Management of Blood Pressure (BP) in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) will publish online next Thursday, February 24, in Kidney International. The print edition will publish in Supplements to Kidney International with an Executive Summary in the journal's main pages. This guideline marks an update to the KDIGO 2012 BP Guideline. It includes new information on BP management recommendations for individuals with non-dialysis CKD, improving BP control for reducing cardiovascular disease risk in adults with CKD, and other important topics. The guideline was co-chaired by Alfred Cheung, MD, and Johannes Mann, MD.

Feedback Wanted: Scope of Work for KDIGO Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease Guideline Available for Public Review
KDIGO has announced that its next guideline will be on Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD). The Scope of Work for the guideline is now available for public review. KDIGO encourages anyone interested or involved in the treatment of ADPKD to share their feedback. The deadline to submit comments has been extended until March 1, 2021.
The ADPKD Guideline Scope of Work is designed to briefly describe the rationale for the development of the guideline and to outline the topics that the guideline intends to address. Following a well-established KDIGO tradition, KDIGO invites clinicians to review and provide feedback on guideline Scope of Work. The goal is to ensure that the formal systematic review of literature includes global input, with a particular emphasis on suggestions that would most benefit patients and clinical practice.

KDIGO Glomerular Diseases Guideline to Publish Late Summer 2021

Genetics in Chronic Kidney Disease Controversies Conference
The virtual KDIGO Genetics in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Controversies Conference, scheduled for March 2021, will examine several issues related to monogenic and complex kidney diseases, applying genetic findings in clinical medicine, and using genomics for defining and stratifying CKD. Anna Köttgen, MD (Germany), and Ali Gharavi, MD (United States), will co-chair this conference.
In the lead-up to the conference, KDIGO is conducting a Genetics in CKD webinar series. The first of this series, Episode 1: The Critical Role of Genetics in Kidney Disease – Not Just in Rare Kidney Diseases, features Conference Co-Chairs Anna Köttgen and Ali Gharavi. Home Dialysis Controversies Conference
The virtual KDIGO Controversies Conference on Home Dialysis, scheduled for May 2021, will be the third meeting in the KDIGO Dialysis Conference Series.
A select group of attendees will conduct a critical, in-depth review of specific and local factors that positively or negatively impact home dialysis, while considering criteria for candidacy, eligibility, and associated outcomes. Topics of particular consideration include the effect of increasing home dialysis use on clinical and patient-reported outcomes, the financial implications of ESKD therapy costs (including patient and carer direct costs), and the impact of increasing home dialysis use on greater access to kidney replacement therapy. The conference will be co-chaired by Jeff Perl, MD (Canada), and Martin Wilkie, MD (UK).
While the Controversies Conference on Home Dialysis is limited to a select group of individuals, plenary session presentations and related conference resources will be available to the entire nephrology community on the KDIGO Home Dialysis Controversies Conference page.

Translational Medicine Academy and KDIGO host e-SPACE CRM Conference
The Translational Medicine Academy, in collaboration with KDIGO, hosted e-SPACE CRM, the first global web conference on Cardiorenal Metabolic Syndrome from January 22-24, 2021. The event was designed to kick off a new generation of scientific conference, that is smart, patient-centered, accredited, collaborative, and educative (hence its name).
Thousands participated in the conference, attending a wide range of seminars that addressed a number of important topics such as arrhythmias in kidney disease and emerging treatment approaches for heart failure. The conference featured ten academic sessions shown twice across three time zones, 20 live academic panel discussions, over 80 speaks and chairs, and CME Accreditation from EBAC (European board of accreditation in cardiology, with conversion of credit points for AMA).
"We are delighted with the success of e-SPACE CRM," said KDIGO Co-Chair and conference co-chair and presenter, Wolfgang Winkelmayer MD. "It was a truly innovative program featuring an exceptional international faculty. I'm excited and impressed by the audience we were able to reach."

KDIGO and PlatformQ Host Expert-Led Glomerular Diseases Presentation
On Monday, February 8, KDIGO and PlatformQ launched a new, interactive, expert-led webinar: “Looking to the Future - Applying a Greater Understanding of Proteinuria Regulation to Improve Outcomes of Patients with FSGS and IgAN.”
Edgar Lerma, MD (US), Michelle O’Shaughnessy, MD (Ireland), and Jai Radhakrishnan, MD (US) led a dynamic series of presentations that addressed the critical issues affecting patients with glomerular disease. The event highlighted the increasing prevalence of both focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and how glomerular diseases often go undiagnosed until patients present with late-stage disease. The presentations endeavored to help improve recognition of early symptoms suggestive of glomerular disease and to learn the latest strategies to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Experts also discussed emerging targeted treatments and their ability to address the limitations of traditional treatments and to reduce proteinuria.
Recordings of these presentations will soon be available on the KDIGO website and available to the global nephrology community.

Support the Garabed Eknoyan, MD, Professorship in Nephrology at Baylor University
The Baylor College of Medicine has launched a campaign to honor KDIGO founder and leader, Gary Eknoyan, through the Garabed Eknoyan, MD, Professorship in Nephrology at Baylor University. KDIGO is helping in this effort to recognize Dr. Eknoyan and the significance of his contributions to KDIGO's mission and history.
KDIGO recognizes that a lasting result of his work is the very existence of clinical practice guidelines in nephrology. When Dr. Eknoyan looked into it in 1994, there were none. Now, KDIGO continues his vision of a global approach to improving outcomes for patients.
We know that Dr. Eknoyan is a friend and colleague of many in the global nephrology community. A perfect way to honor him is by supporting this effort. For many years, Dr. Eknoyan has been generous to the cause of improving patient outcomes. He is still doing so by offering to match any contribution to the endowment of up to $250,000.
Dr. Eknoyan's legacy is sustained through KDIGO and all the Baylor students he taught over the years. This professorship will continue the kind of teaching and mentoring for which he is known. Any support you can provide is greatly appreciated.
