KEA Basic Used Truck Intelligence - Part 2

What is it? The foundation of our Used Truck Intelligence business is putting numbers on individual trucks and packages of trucks. Outside of that very granular data-grinding, we also want to make sure that you know what’s going on in the market in general. Should we be lowering prices or raising them? Are we charging enough for wide base tires? There are conflicting opinions on what transmissions are worth - should I invest extra in an integrated drive train?  Answering these questions is the second pillar of our Basic Used Truck Intelligence product. How does it work?  Last week we talked about the size and detail of our dataset (over 7 times the most popular value “book” on the market right now). We take that data and use statistical modeling to “quiet the noise” and decipher what is REALLY going on with the market for used trucks.

Once a month, you’ll get an update about what the market for the foundational categories of the used truck business (sleepers (index measure shown), day cabs, and MRD) are doing. These monthly business conditions reports tell you what happened last month and what’s likely to happen in the coming month.

The last of these updates will hit your inbox by the third business day of the current month. We understand that telling you what’s going to happen in August isn’t very useful to you on the 21 st . Speed matters here. We also send out weekly “snapshot” reports on specific valuation questions based on conversations we’re having with customers. The graphic below was from a conversation on brand value we had in June.

How much does it cost?  Basic Used Truck Intelligence comes in two tiers. For dealers that contribute their sales data, the cost for this service is $1,195/ year, which covers your entire dealership and as many update recipients as you’d like. For dealers that would just like the data and market updates without contributing data, we charge $2,250/ year, which also covers the entire dealership.
