Virtual Support for Energy Savings

In partnership with Focus on Energy, WPPI Energy members are providing an innovative way to help business customers reduce their energy use without the need for an on-site visit through the Virtual Commissioning (VCx) pilot.

The pilot primarily targets school and government facilities in local communities and uses advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) data to analyze and uncover potential energy saving options. Local utility representatives and a Focus on Energy expert meet with customers virtually to review data and identify savings opportunities, with a goal to implement changes quickly and easily.

Examples of changes to increase energy savings include things such as scheduling updates, temperature setpoint modifications, and equipment sequencing. Over the course of 2022, 26 customers saved approximately 1,800 MWh across the WPPI membership, which collectively includes 51 communities.

Energy savings is just one of the many benefits of the VCx efforts. The pilot offers a way for the local utility to build and expand relationships with small and midsize business customers – specifically schools – to continue to provide customer support to significant energy users in the community.

Register for FREE Today!

PreK-2 classes can join KEEP and WPPI from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, for a live virtual reading of "If I Were a Lineworker", an illustrated children’s book.

To honor National Lineworker Appreciation Day, the book will be read by real life lineworkers Darren and Hunter. They will share information about their career, show attendees some of the safety and professional tools they use every day, and answer questions about being a lineworker.

"If I Were a Lineworker" is an original book created and published by WPPI Energy staff in early 2020 to celebrate National Lineworker Appreciation Day. Darren and Hunter are lineworkers for City Utilities of Richland Center, a WPPI member.

The KEEP program is funded with generous support by Alliant Energy, Madison Gas and Electric, We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service, WPPI Energy, and Xcel Energy.
