We’re excited to celebrate Black History Month with you this February! If you haven't gotten a chance to explore it yet, we’re pleased to once again highlight our lesson on Black Leaders in Energy. We invite all of our readers to make use of this lesson, incorporate all or part of it in your teaching, and give us your feedback.

HVAC Resources for the Classroom
|
We get it. HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) isn't an acronym that's particularly exciting.
You don't find yourself at dinner parties talking enthusiastically about HVAC.
Or, if you're our kind of educator, maybe you do.
HVAC plays a crucial, if often unheralded, role in our built environment. It's also a growth industry, and particularly as climate change drives temperature extremes, it plays an increasingly important role in both career and energy education.
Are your HVAC knowledge and classroom resources up to the challenge of preparing your students for the future?
Celebrate Career and Technical Education Month and join KEEP and our partners for a FREE 2-part HVAC Resources for the Classroom webinar series Feb. 15 and 22.

Utility Spotlight
KEEP is funded by six utilities in Wisconsin - Alliant Energy, Madison Gas & Electric, We Energies, Wisconsin Public Service, WPPI Energy and Xcel Energy.
As we continue to appreciate the work of the utilities which fund KEEP, we want to share a useful resource by We Energies to calculate the electrical usage of appliances.
|
Once students understand how to measure and multiply out the electrical usage of an appliance over time (Try using this worksheet with our Energy Audit Kit), use the calculator from We Energies to quickly calculate the monthly and annual electricity costs for dozens of different appliances. Which appliances contribute the most to a household energy bill?
Also don’t forget that We Energies is among several utilities in the state to have donated Watt Meters to local public libraries. Ask your local librarian whether the library has a Watt Meter for checkout, or can request one from another library in the system!
