Revealed: The new Kanana camp,

Okavango Delta

Ker & Downey Botswana proudly unveils the reopening of Kanana, a cherished sanctuary on the western edge of the Okavango Delta. Following an extensive transformation, this iconic camp assures guests breathtaking and expansive views, refined accommodations, and an immersive connection to the Okavango Delta’s untamed beauty.

A HAVEN OF ELEGANCE AMIDST THE DELTA

Inspired by the rich landscapes of the Okavango, Kanana’s redesigned guest areas seamlessly blend sophisticated comfort with the essence of the bush. The main lodge embraces a harmonious palette—earthy hues intertwined with the evergreen tones of the riverine woodlands, and delicate eggshell accents inspired by the Delta’s largest aquatic heronry.

Guests are invited to indulge —whether reclining in a selection of inviting lounges and taking in the serene scenery, unwinding by the floodplain-facing swimming pool, or gathering around the expansive outdoor fireplace to share daily stories with other guests. The innovative live cooking station, featuring a wood-fired pizza oven, adds an interactive touch—turning dining into a vibrant experience shared with fellow travelers and the Kanana team.

DESIGNED FOR EXCLUSIVE SAFARI SERENITY

Kanana’s seven double/twin suites and spacious family suite (two bedrooms) are landscape-facing, offering uninterrupted views of the untamed wilderness. Whether gazing from a private outdoor deck or relaxing in the elegantly furnished indoor living area, guests are enveloped in a setting which accentuates the wilderness.

Each tented suite is designed with refined convenience, featuring a refreshment station with minibar, coffee station, workstation, dressing table, and ample charging ports. The ensuite bathrooms introduce an innovative element—large showers with one-way glass, allowing guests to immerse in unrivalled Delta views while maintaining absolute privacy.

WHERE LUXURY AND NATURE INTERTWINE

Under the creative vision of Cate Simpson of Reflecting Africa, Kanana’s décor is a masterful balance of contemporary refinement and organic African beauty. Natural elements—thatch and canvas—preserve the authenticity of the landscape while maintaining a sophisticated ambiance, allowing the sounds of the wild to filter gently into the living spaces.

With its revitalized charm, Kanana invites guests not just to witness the Okavango Delta’s extraordinary wonders, but to do so in a setting that redefines the meaning of safari elegance. Whether embarking on exclusive wildlife excursions, gliding through the Delta’s serene waterways, or simply revelling in the camp’s tranquillity, Kanana is where adventure meets comfort.

UNTAMED KANANA EXPERIENCES

Nestled in the southwestern Okavango Delta, Kanana Camp is a retreat on the Xudum River, within an exclusive wilderness area. This remarkable region is a tapestry of palm-dotted islands, meandering waterways, evergreen riverine woodlands and thriving floodplains, supporting an extraordinary abundance of wildlife and bird species.
