Good afternoon Kristin,
As we enter Holy Week, today’s Gospel narrates an experience Jesus has with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Again, we see Martha serving while Mary anoints Jesus’ feet with “costly perfumed oil.” We learn a great deal from the shared example of these two sisters.
Mary and Martha remind us of the importance of both prayer and service, of faith and action. Perhaps most importantly for me, as I find myself moving quickly through my day oriented toward another task, Mary reminds me to slow down and to spend time nurturing my relationship with Christ.
During this Holy Week, I pray that each of us is able to find time to nurture our inner Mary, even if we find ourselves moved toward an inclination toward service that reflects our inner Martha.

If you are interested and have not yet responded, please take two minutes to indicate your interest in having your school participate in flex leave pilot by completing this brief survey. There will be information sessions for participating schools on Tuesday, at 11am and 1pm, and again on Thursday at 11:30am, following our regularly scheduled Thursday morning meeting.
Two other noteworthy deadlines as many of us head into Easter break:
-
Applications to renew your school's approval with the State Board of Education are due next Monday, April 1.
-
Applications for Educational Leadership grants through the Fulcrum Foundation are due next Friday, April 5. Please be sure to share this information with any aspiring leaders in your school!
With many of our schools on Easter break next week, we will not have a Keystone. I pray you all have a blessed Holy Week as we anticipate the resurrection of our Lord.
With gratitude,
NICHOLAS FORD | Superintendent
Office for Catholic Schools | Archdiocese of Seattle
