Greetings!
“Fruit of the earth and work of human hands.”
At a conference with other superintendents this week, one speaker reflected on the Gospel of work. He pointed out that in the Eucharistic prayer, we don’t simply offer wheat and grapes; we offer bread and wine. Those gifts already carry the imprint of human labor, the “work of human hands.”
In that offering, we see that God desires to draw us into the work of salvation. We are not bystanders. Our work, our creativity, our care – all of it becomes part of what we return to Him. It’s a reminder that God desires our participation, that the ordinary work we do each day, when done with love, becomes something holy. As I listened to his reflection, I prayed in gratitude for the many ways your works transform our schools into sacramental places.
