Oklahoma Watch Forum: OKC Mayor on MAPS 4 Proposal
Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt fielded questions about the ambitious MAPS 4 proposal in a recent Oklahoma Watch forum. Funded by a penny sales tax for eight years, MAPS 4 would generate close to $1 billion in public funding – much of it aimed at addressing human-services and neighborhood issues . KGOU will broadcast the forum as our Sunday Radio Matinee Oct. 13 at 12 p.m.

NPR Politics Podcast: Now Daily
The NPR Politics team will be in podcast feeds each weekday afternoon to help listeners make sense of the 2020 campaign, impeachment developments, and other big political news. These daily episodes — roundups, interviews, quick takes, and deep dives the audience relies on — will continue through Election Day 2020.

NPR Launches Daily Science Podcast
On Tuesday, Oct. 15, NPR will launch a new daily science podcast. Short Wave with host Maddie Sofia will explore new discoveries, everyday mysteries, or the science behind the headlines – all in about 10 minutes. In its first episodes, the podcast will look at how researchers are using hallucinogens to treat addiction, how zombie parasites reproduce by manipulating insects, or whether the latest high-tech medical device is based in science or all hype .

With chillier days comes the urge to curl up on the couch with a good book, and NPR's book aficionados have some recommendations. As work begins on this year's Book Concierge, get a preview of a few good reads.
