Fundraising Update: A December to Remember
Listeners stepped up in a big way to make last month's fundraising drive among the best calendar year-end campaigns in memory. We're still counting, but the total now stands at 659 donations during December, with more than $88,000 given or pledged.
That means the challenge from Home Creations has been met -- and then some! Home Creations is giving the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma $10,000, which will go a long way in providing food for those in need, along with an additional $10,000 to KGOU. Thank you to all who participated!
You can begin or renew your support for KGOU's essential news coverage and enlightening entertainment year-round. Donations are tax-deductible.

'Pictures on the Radio'
The late photographer for NPR, David Gilkey, found humor in explaining to people that he worked for a radio network. His work elevated news coverage on websites and other digital platforms across the public radio system, and is showcased in a new book, Pictures on the Radio: From the Frontlines of History with NPR News. The book comprises Gilkey's striking photos from all around the world of people and events in the news over recent decades.

A Pandemic Casualty: The Capitol Steps
Amid all the losses suffered during the coronavirus pandemic, you can now add the Capitol Steps. The musical comedy troupe has announced plans to shut down permanently after not being able to stage live performances for more than a year. For now, their website is still up and able to sell you a CD. KGOU has aired Capitol Steps specials for decades, and we've hosted their performances in Oklahoma City over the past few years. We wish them all well as they look to the future.

A Farewell Giveaway: Capitol Steps CDs
KGOU has a few Capitol Steps CDs that have been hiding in the giveaway closet. We have assorted albums, including the most recent Make America Grin Again. Our resolution is to clear them out through a random drawing as we say a sad farewell to our favorite political satire troupe.
