NHSN Reporting and Citations Update
On June 9th, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began issuing F884 citations and Civil Money Penalty (CMP) for failure to report to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for COVID-19 related data information. On June 11th, AHCA received communication from CMS regarding a few common issues that they discovered related to NHSN reporting and related citations and fines. On June 15th, AHCA started receiving information  from providers who had received a notice in their CASPER that their NHSN reporting citation and CMP were rescinded. AHCA drafted a sample independent information dispute resolution (IIDR) request for centers who believe they received a citation and believe it was issued in error or inappropriately.

Webinar 6/25 - COVID-19 and Nursing Homes - hosted by Center for Practical Bioethics
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Central, Thursday, June 25
COVID-19 and nursing homes: Why is this happening?
Nursing homes are not hospitals. Residents of nursing homes need assistance with tasks such as dressing, bathing, and eating. By design, these facilities, their staff, and residents are not clinically oriented. The presence of COVID-19 means nursing homes must adopt acute care levels of infection control and care. This webinar will explain the underlying dynamics of nursing home care that fostered the current crisis and the policy complexities of making changes in the future.
