Agreement To Reopen Government Would Extend Federal Funding For Telehealth Flexibilities, Food Benefits


McKnight’s Senior Living (11/12, Bonvissuto) reports, "An apparent agreement on a continuing resolution to reopen the government would extend federal funding for telehealth flexibilities and fully fund food benefits for low-income individuals, including affordable senior housing residents." Last week, "a coalition of 450 health care, patient and provider organizations --" including the National Center for Assisted Living "-- asked leaders in Congress to act on a long-term telehealth fix that offers stability and access to care." The American Health Care Association was "among additional signers."

With the explosion of memory care units, along with the dramatic increase in the diagnosis of dementia-related diagnoses across the spectrum of senior care, perhaps this is a good time to discuss programming for dementia care…not associated with drugs. There are a number of evidence-based programs available for programming both to prevent but also plan for dementia care settings. These programs align well to enhance resident well-being during program planning. The facility’s Life Enrichment Director (AD), may find these resources valuable in care planning for non-pharmacological interventions related to dementia and/or behaviors. READ MORE

KDHE Secretary Stanek is seeking information related to Health Information Exchange (HIE) participation in Kansas


We’ve been asked to assist in identifying long term care providers in Kansas that are not currently participating in a Health Information Exchange (HIE).


To help with this effort, we’re asking members to take a brief survey to let us know whether or not your community participates in an HIE.

License Expiration Grace Period Survey


In response to concerns voiced in the House Special Committee on Government Oversight KSBN is seeking interest and needs for a grace period for nurse’s license expiration date. They would appreciate your feedback. The data will be reported to the decision-makers to assist in possible legislative changes to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act. It is a short survey and can be completed fast. Thank you for your consideration in completing this survey to assist in legislative decisions.
