AHCA/NCAL Announces 2025 Gold National Quality Award Recipients

Congratulations to the First Gold Quality Award Winner in Kansas: Nottingham Health and Rehab - Olathe, KS

The American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) announced three recipients of the 2025 Gold – Excellence in Quality Award. And one Kansas facility has earned the most prestigious and esteemed award level of AHCA/NCAL's National Quality Award Program, which recognizes long term and post-acute care facilities that meet progressively rigorous standards of performance to further improve the lives of their residents. These organizations are amongst the best in the nation, recognized for their exceptional overall performance driven by sustainable, systematic, and effective practices.

We are so incredibly proud and cannot wait to celebrate the Nottingham Health and Rehabilitation team at the Elevating Excellence Awards Ceremony at Delivering Solutions 25, AHCA/NCAL's Convention & Expo, in Las Vegas, Nev., this October.

The 2026 National Quality Award Intent to Apply (ITA) is now open! All applicants who plan to apply for an AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award are encouraged to submit an ITA by logging into the Quality Award portal before the deadline on November 13, 2025, at 7 PM Central.

Clinical Update from KHCA Consultant Linda Farrar

Based on some recent survey findings, it may be time to discuss what should be included in care plans related to dementia care and services. To start, regulation requires that care plans must be person-centered, comprehensive, individualized and timely…notice that “person-centered” requirement. Remember, the resident is the “locus of care”, per CMS. So every dementia care plan will look different, and every dementia care plan will include the residents’ and the representative’s input and will include the resident’s stated goals for help with any/all cognitive impairments. READ MORE

Upcoming PBJ Submission Deadline and iQIES Service Center Availability Reminder

Due to the Payroll Based Journal (PBJ) quarterly submission deadline on August 14, 2025, the iQIES Service Center is anticipating a significant increase in the volume of calls and emails.

Key Highlights

• Nursing Home Survey & Certification Launch: On July 14, 2025, the Nursing Home Survey & Certification functionality will launch in iQIES—just one month prior to the PBJ submission deadline. This rollout is expected to result in a substantial influx of new users, potentially leading to longer hold times.
• Plan Ahead – Submit Early: To avoid delays or complications with data submission, we strongly encourage all users to submit their PBJ data as early as possible, ideally before July 14. Early reporting ensures smoother processing and minimizes the risk of last-minute issues.
