FinCEN Permanently Ends Beneficial Ownership Reporting Requirements for U.S. Businesses

The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has issued a final rule permanently removing beneficial ownership information reporting requirements for U.S. companies and U.S. persons under the Corporate Transparency Act.

As a result, medical practices and other businesses created in the United States are no longer required to submit beneficial ownership reports to FinCEN. U.S. persons with a FinCEN identifier are also no longer required to update or correct previously submitted information. The final rule took effect August 14, 2026.

Certain foreign entities registered to do business in the United States remain subject to reporting requirements. Practices with questions about how the rule applies to their specific business structure should consult their legal or financial advisor.

Strong Manager-Employee Relationships Begin with Clear Expectations

Following this week’s KHF leadership event, practice leaders are reminded that the relationship between a manager and an employee plays a critical role in employee engagement, performance and overall workplace success.

Effective performance management strengthens this relationship by creating clear, documented expectations and helping employees understand what they are doing well and where improvement is needed. It also gives managers a fair and consistent foundation for decisions related to raises, promotions, reassignment or termination.

Performance management should not be limited to an annual review. It is an ongoing process that includes establishing goals, monitoring performance, providing regular feedback and applying expectations consistently. When employees understand how their performance connects to recognition and advancement, practices can strengthen trust, morale and accountability.
