Important Updates

Best Practices for Managing Voicemails Containing PHI: Insights from SSP*

To stay HIPAA-compliant, providers should transcribe voicemails into the patient’s medical record immediately, document the callback and discussion, and then delete the original message once transcription is complete. Audio files are not required to be kept and may only be considered part of the “designated record set” if used in decision-making. Ensure your medical record retention policy clarifies that voicemail recordings are destroyed after transcription. For more details, refer to the full brief developed by Sterling Seacrest Pritchard.

State Medicaid RFP Award MOU’s *

Statement from the Georgia Department of Community Health regarding a contract notice of intent to award announcement

TCCN has executed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the three new potential awardees: Humana, Molina, and United Healthcare.  If practices receive network recruitment requests from the potential awardees, please redirect them to TCCN.  It is TCCN’s intention to negotiate full agreements based on these MOUs and have contracts in place for the start of the new CMO agreements with the State of Georgia.

In the meantime, TCCN will continue to work with Amerigroup and Peach State, as the state has not yet announced a final award decision or a transition timeline.

HHS Vaccine Campaign*

LetsGetRealAboutVaccines.org, Immunize.org’s newest website, provides credible, plain-language information about routine pediatric vaccines. The Let’s Get Real campaign, created in 2024, was originally researched and reviewed by medical, public health, and communications experts at U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies. The development team worked with parents and providers to find the right tone and focus on key issues. The HHS campaign ended in 2025. Immunize.org acquired the content to continue providing this clear and accurate information. View the website for more information to share among your practice and patients.
