Children's Medical Group's Dr. Chandler Rountree Featured on WSB Radio

Back-to-school season is the perfect time to emphasize preventive care.

Dr. Chandler Rountree of Children's Medical Group, P.C., recently joined WSB Radio's "The Weekly Check-Up" to discuss important back-to-school health topics, including:

CMS Proposes Changes That Could Impact Pediatric Billing

CMS recently released the proposed Calendar Year 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, which includes several proposals that may be of interest to pediatric practices.

While these policies apply directly to Medicare, commercial payers often follow Medicare's lead when implementing reimbursement changes.

Two proposals of particular interest include:

Potential reduction in reimbursement for combined well and sick visits

CMS is proposing changes that could limit payment for a sick visit performed in conjunction with a preventive visit to 50% reimbursement.

Changes to HCPCS code G2211

CMS has also proposed converting HCPCS code G2211 from a standalone code to a modifier.

Practices may wish to monitor these proposals closely, as future commercial payer policies could be influenced by the final rule.

Website Privacy, Cookie Policies and Cyber Liability: What Practices Should Know

A recent question from a member practice asked whether pediatric offices should maintain separate website privacy and cookie policies and whether cyber liability coverage would respond to related claims.

According to Brent Reece of SSP:

Practices should maintain a separate policy explaining how website cookies and tracking technologies are managed.
Website developers should be consulted to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws, including California privacy regulations.
Practices should consider adding a privacy notice and cookie disclosure to their websites.
Coverage for privacy-related allegations may exist under cyber liability policies, although coverage will vary by carrier and policy.

The primary allegations in recent website privacy lawsuits involve third-party tracking technologies used for marketing and analytics purposes.

Practices should review both their website policies and cyber insurance coverage with their vendors and legal counsel to ensure they are adequately protected.

Georgia Updates Rules for Separation Notices

Georgia employers should also be aware of new unemployment insurance rules that take effect on August 9, 2026. The updated rules address electronic delivery requirements for employee separation notices and electronic postings for remote employees.

Employers who choose electronic delivery must:

Send notices through email, an employee portal, or another electronic communication system.
Use a delivery method that creates a record accessible to the employer.
Retain proof of delivery for at least four years.

Practices should review their existing HR procedures to ensure compliance before the August 9 effective date.

Last Call to Register: August Practice Administrators Meeting/ Leadership Development Session

The August Practice Administrators Meeting will be held as a special in-person leadership development session on August 20. Rather than a traditional PA meeting, this program will feature Leigh Smith, MBA, MSW, CPHQ, who will share practical strategies for leading multigenerational teams, improving employee engagement, strengthening workplace culture, and increasing retention.

The session is designed for practice administrators, office managers, physicians, and practice leaders seeking practical tools they can immediately apply within their organizations.
