New Georgia Laws Redefine Medical Liability Landscape*

As of April 21, 2025, Georgia Senate Bills 68 and 69 have been signed into law, bringing major changes to medical liability and third-party litigation funding. SB 68 allows juries to consider actual medical costs—not just charges—while SB 69 regulates lawsuit funding practices. These reforms aim to create fairer trial procedures and reduce excessive damages. SB 68 is effective immediately; SB 69 takes full effect January 1, 2026.
