Important Updates

Prepare for Winter Weather*

Another winter weather event may hit Atlanta early next week with frigid temperatures coming to the area on Sunday. Prepare your practice with the following tips:

Protect Your Pipes:

  • Open cabinet doors at night to keep warm air circulating around pipes.
  • Let cold water drip from faucets connected to exterior pipes.
  • Use pipe sleeves for added insulation on exposed pipes.
  • Keep thermostat set to same temperature as day-time temperature (no lower than 55°F); this will reduce repair bill if pipes do burst.

Plan for Emergencies:

  • Ensure your emergency contact lists are up-to-date, including building management and after-hours maintenance if you lease your space.
  • Maintain a current staff contact list or phone tree and ensure clear communication plans are in place to effectively manage closures or other urgent updates.
  • Test backup generators and confirm that IT systems and vaccines are properly protected. If vaccines are not connected to a backup generator, create a plan to relocate and store them safely during a power outage.
