Dear Kids Health First (KHF) Providers and Practice Administrators,

We have some important updates about payor updates, new programs, and upcoming events. There's a lot of information, and we want to keep you informed. Please read through this email carefully and let us know if you have any questions.

Important Updates

Provider Texting: Small Messages Can Create Big Malpractice Risks

A quick text about patient care can have lasting consequences. Curi’s recent article explains how provider-to-provider text messages can become evidence in malpractice claims, including messages sent from personal devices. When those conversations are missing from—or inconsistent with—the medical record, they can create documentation gaps.

Curi encourages practices to use secure, HIPAA-compliant messaging platforms, promptly document clinically relevant discussions in the medical record, and keep messages professional. Share this resource with your providers and review your practice’s communication policies.

October Practice Checklist: Open Enrollment and Compliance Reminders

October’s checklist in the SophistiPrax HR Compliance Calendar highlights benefits planning and important administrative tasks:

  • Prepare for open enrollment: If your health insurance renews in January, begin planning now. Practices participating in TCCN Health Insurance should ensure a Benefits Champion is in place.

  • Provide Medicare Part D notices: Coordinate with your benefits adviser to distribute the appropriate notices to plan participants.

  • Coordinate Form 941 filing: Work with your payroll provider or accountant on your Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return.

Use the calendar to organize responsibilities and confirm applicable requirements and deadlines with your advisers.

Visit SophistiPrax Resources to access the calendar.

Reminder: Bring BLS and CPR Training to Your Practice

KHF’s collaboration with No Stress Training gives your providers and staff access to BLS recertification at a reduced rate—with training offered at your practice for added convenience.

Consider hosting a Family and Friends CPR class for your patient families, too. Offering practical emergency response education at your office is a meaningful way to engage families and strengthen their connection with your practice.

To discuss scheduling, contact Doug and Deanna Morris at 770-519-2283 or nostresstraining@outlook.com. Be sure to identify your office as a KHF practice.

Updated AAP Visual Guide Supports RSV Immunization Decisions

The AAP’s updated RSV Immunization Administration Visual Guide, dated September 3, 2026, provides a quick reference for determining eligibility, selecting a product, and reviewing dosing. The flowchart considers patient age, maternal RSV vaccination, prior immunization, and risk factors for severe disease.

The guide includes the expanded high-risk groups recommended for nirsevimab (Beyfortus) during their second RSV season, at ages 8 through 19 months. These include children born before 32 weeks’ gestation; children with hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease; certain pulmonary abnormalities or neuromuscular disorders; and Down syndrome or other chromosomal differences associated with increased risk.

Share the guide with your clinical team and review the complete eligibility criteria and administration details.
