Important Updates

Important Measles Vaccine Guidelines

With measles cases on the rise, it’s vital to ensure our patients receive the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine according to recommended guidelines. Below is a brief summary:

  • Standard MMR Schedule:
  • First dose at 12–15 months
  • Second dose at 4 years (can be given earlier if at least one month has passed since the first dose)

  • Infants Under 6 Months:
  • MMR is not approved for this age group.

  • Infants Aged 6–12 Months:
  • May receive a dose if at higher risk for measles (e.g., traveling internationally or to an area with a measles outbreak).
  • This early dose does not replace the two standard doses (they still need the 12–15-month and 4-year doses).
  • If an early dose is given, the next dose must be at least one month later.

  • MMRV (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella):
  • Not recommended for children under 24 months due to increased risk of febrile seizures.

By staying vigilant and following these guidelines, we can help protect our pediatric patients from measles and its complications. Thank you for your continued commitment to children’s health.

February Practice Administrators Meeting Recap: Insights from Understanding Generational Differences*

On February 20, 2025, Practice Administrators and Lead Physicians attended the Kids Health First monthly meeting at Scottish Rite for an engaging session on Understanding Generational Differences, led by Leigh Smith of Cardinal Development Group. This interactive program offered practical strategies for managing a diverse workforce, enhancing communication, and strengthening team dynamics—key factors in building a successful pediatric practice.

Attendees worked in generational groups to problem-solve real-life workplace challenges, gaining practical tools to enhance team collaboration and patient care.

Here’s what participants had to say:

  • "Leigh is dynamic and very engaging!" – Debby D.
  • "I would like to have this speaker do an in-service at my office with the physicians." – Niara T.
