Georgia to Phase Out Subminimum Wage for Employees with Disabilities*

Effective July 1, 2025, Georgia will begin eliminating the subminimum wage for employees with disabilities. Employers holding a valid U.S. Department of Labor certificate issued on or before this date may continue paying below minimum wage temporarily but must increase wages to at least half the federal minimum wage by July 1, 2026, and to the full federal minimum wage by July 1, 2027. Employers without a valid certificate by July 1, 2025, must comply immediately with the federal minimum wage.
