Vaccine Reporting Requirements in Georgia (GRITS)
As a reminder to Kids Health First practices, Georgia law requires that all vaccines administered be reported to the Georgia Immunization Registry (GRITS). This requirement, established under the Georgia Immunization Registry Law (passed in 1996 and expanded by House Bill 1526), applies to any provider or staff member administering FDA-licensed vaccines.
Practices may report vaccinations through several approved methods, but reporting is required. Many practices find it helpful to set up a single administrative GRITS ID and create individual logins for staff to streamline reporting and maintain compliance.
GRITS, managed by the Georgia Department of Public Health, helps ensure accurate and up-to-date immunization records to support effective disease prevention across the state.
