September 12, 2025 Bomber Bulletin | | |
Dear Kenston High School Parents,
The Kenston PEAK character trait for the month of September is Responsibility. Here is a brief reflection on how responsibility can impact student growth and achievement.
Responsibility is an essential character trait that plays a key role in a student’s success. As Elizabeth Cady Stanton said, “Nothing strengthens the judgment and quickens the conscience like individual responsibility.” When students take responsibility for their learning, homework, and behavior they develop better decision making skills and a stronger sense of accountability. This helps them not only meet deadlines and expectations but also understand the importance of honesty and integrity. By embracing responsibility, students prepare themselves to overcome challenges, build trust with teachers & peers, and grow into dependable individuals both inside and outside the classroom.
Responsibility and Start With Hello Week
Being a responsible student goes hand in hand with an important September initiative at KHS. Start With Hello Week, begins on Monday, September 15 and continues through Friday, September 19.
- Start With Hello Week is a national campaign that encourages schools to build a culture of inclusion, connection, and belonging among students and is supported by the Sandy Hook Promise. The goal is to reduce social isolation in support of youth mental health by helping students feel seen, heard, and valued in their school communities.
- KHS will recognize Start With Hello Week this week with daily activities supported by members of the Student Council. These small, simple, and supportive actions will help create a welcoming environment and remind us that being responsible means looking out for one another.

| | Patriot Day - September 11 | |
On Thursday, September 11, Kenston High School honored Patriot Day with a school-wide announcement and a moment of silence in remembrance of the lives lost and the heroes of September 11, 2001. In addition, student classwork and related activities throughout the day were aligned with Social Studies standards to deepen understanding of the historical significance of the day.
Kenston Schools are committed to educating our students about the significance of this day and the values it represents — courage, service, and community.

Join the PTO!
Why? You should join the PTO to support your child's education and school community, connect with other parents and teachers, gain insights into their school experience, and make a tangible impact by funding resources, organizing events, and improving the learning environment. Membership offers opportunities to be more informed, build community, advocate for your child, and serve as a positive role model for them by demonstrating the importance of their education.
PTO Fundraiser
During the Fundraiser, Kenston Families support PTO programs through direct donation, no fun runs or items to sell. And the best part? 100% of your donation goes directly to your building's PTO to fund programs. Please support the Kenston PTOs by making a tax deductible donation (see link below).
Help us reach our goal of 100% funding by October 3!
Thank you for your support!

| | The Kenston Giving Garden Club | | |
The Kenston Giving Garden club consists of students in grades 8-12. The mission of the club is to foster and appreciation of the outdoors, connect with the community through the donation of fresh produce, and provide hands-on experience in gardening and resource conservation.
All produce raised is donated to local food pantries so that families can have access to fresh produce. This season students are growing potatoes, beans, tomatoes, egg plant, kohlrabi, peppers, garlic, cabbage, strawberries, dill, nasturtiums, dahlias, marigolds, lemon balm, summer & winter squash, cucumbers, sunflowers, milkweed and more.
We oversee 4 areas on the Kenston Campus:
a vegetable garden, pollinator garden, sensory herb garden for students with special needs and a large compost bin for the high school’s cafeteria kitchen scraps.
We are actively seeking new students grades 8-12 who are interested in gardening, learning conservation practices and giving back to their community.
We also visit local farms & gardens to learn new practices. Hours worked in the garden count towards community service hours. For more information, email connie.kramer@kenstonapps.org.
