The Great Geauga County Fair Award Winners
Af-"fair" to Remember!

Kenston Bombers
once again prove to be AWARD WINNING CONTESTANTS
Ava Intelisano
Grade 11
Showmanship Sweepstakes
Grand Champion
You aren't seeing double! These are all of Ava's awards from this year's entries!

We are so proud to congratulate Ava Intelisano, junior, for winning the 2022 Geauga County Fair Showman Sweepstakes. The Showman Sweepstakes is a 4-H competition featuring all of the Grand Champions from each species. The showman faced off on the last day of fair handling all of the different animal species being exhibited at the fair. The title of “Showman of Showman” is the highest showmanship honor at Jr. Fair. If you could have heard the crowd erupt in great applause when they announced Ava’s name, you too would have been so proud of our Kenston Bomber!
A Royal Af-"fair"...
Her majesty, the Queen, walks the halls of Kenston High!

Congratulations to Samantha Bergansky, senior, on her wonderful accomplishment of being crowned Jr. Queen of the Great Geauga County Fair!

The fair king and queen are picked by a panel of judges chosen by the fair directors. There is an interview process and also a fishbowl question interview. From the many contestants, there are only four finalists that make up the Queen Court.

This is not just a popularity contest voted by students--there are strict requirements for being voted as Jr. Queen by the 4-H Club panel of judges! The queen must be between 16-18 years old, and an active member of a Junior Fair Organization (4-H, Grange, Scouts, etc) for at least 2 years. The contestants are judged on the applicant's attitude, grades, community service, 4-H and Fair involvement, leadership skills, if they are a good role model, and if they are a good representation of Geauga County. Poise, personality, communication skills, responses to questions, appearance and presentation, all activities involved in, participation, initiative, and achievement are just a few of the requirements that Samantha checked off the judge's lists to be crowned queen.

Samantha's commitment is year-long. The queen is expected to represent at local festivals and other Ohio county fairs. Samantha has also committed to representing the county at the state level in Columbus in January at the Ohio Fair Managers Convention where she will be required to compete in the Ohio Fairs Queen Contest. We are so proud of our Queen Bomber!
.........An Art Af-"fair"............................ A Baking Af-"fair"...
Congratulations to Ethan Noah, junior, on winning first place for his pencil drawing!
Congratulations to Mrs. Hearns, KHS Math Teacher, for winning
first place on her Original Maple Baked Good!

Why are high school fees different?

Similar to college courses, some high school courses require specific items that the students use that are considered consumables: such as workbooks, lab supplies, etc. Each course may have its own fee and the total cost will be determined by the classes the student takes each semester. Since there are four different classes per semester, the total cost for fees in the Spring semester will look different. A "School Fees Payment Reminder" notification will be sent via email to Parents / Guardians for the first semester classes and again after the start of second semester classes.  If you have further questions please call (440) 543-9821 x 2040

MOCK TRIAL TEAM 2022 -2023
Join the team! It looks great on your resume!
Join the Mock Trial Team!

Students have fun while learning first-hand about the law, court procedures and the judicial system.

Parent / student informational meeting is on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7pm in the A-B Room. Practices are Monday nights from 7-9 pm in A112 beginning Oct. 3. Mock Trial is a fun academic competition against other high schools where students portray an attorney or witness and participate in simulated two-hour trials based on a fictitious criminal or civil case. Students argue both sides of the case in real courtrooms across the state and are scored by panels of lawyers and judges.

If you are interested in joining the team, please sign-up for Google Classroom with code: ydzq6kw and come to the first practice.

College Visitations @ KHS
Admissions representatives from various state and private colleges visit students at KHS during the school day. Students should listen to daily announcements as well as check the Guidance bulletin board and online Google document daily for updates on College Visitations. Most visitations take place in September, October, and November. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this personalized information session if the college is one they are considering. Students will be excused from class to attend presentations, with approval of the teacher. We ask they limit their visitations to five or six colleges they are most interested in so they don't miss too much classroom time. This is a great opportunity for students to network with college admissions reps in a small, informal setting.

In order for students to view the upcoming college visits, and to sign up to attend a visit, they need to log into their Naviance student accounts. If a student is unsure how to access their Naviance account, they should contact their Guidance Counselor. Students will receive a pass the morning of the visit to give to their teacher. A student can sign up for the visit up to the day before. Students must follow these steps to register, or they will not be permitted to attend the visit.

BOMBER BASH
Mark your calendars for this annual event you won't want to miss!
KICKIN' IT FOR KIDS!
Mark your calendars for the
7th Annual
Bomber Bash

SAVE THE DATE:
Saturday, November 19th

What is Bomber Bash?

This is a very special "lock-in" overnight charity event for our KHS students, from 6:00 pm Sat., Nov 19 - 6:00 am Sun., Nov 20th! This year, Kenston will be "Kickin' it For Kids" with an evening full of country themed fun- yahoo!

What to expect?
We will celebrate with inflatables, food, DJ, games and entertainment for the student guests all evening! Food is donated by many of our local restaurants, (Cowboys, Sirna's, Augie's Pizza, The Tipsy Bull, Coyotes, The Mad Batter Bakery just to name a few)! We thank our community restaurants for their generous support!

Because why?
This amazing event is put on by the Bomber Bash Lead Crew - a group of nearly 40 student leaders. These students plan the event from start to finish. All the money raised will go to our chosen charity: "A Kid Again". This is a Northeast Ohio charity that supports families of children with life threatening illness or terminal diagnosis. It is an amazing charity, and we are thrilled to support them. Over the last four years, Kenston has raised over $40,000 at the event through their sponsorship. Kenston students who attend earn 12 community service hours. Please support our cause and continue Kenston's culture of kindness!

How Can I Help?

  • WATCH FOR INFORMATION FOR REGISTRATION IN NOVEMBER BOMBER BULLETIN!

  • Upcoming Sign Up Genius - volunteer to assist at the event or donate supportive food items.

Thank you in advance!!
