Have a photo you'd like to see here? Send it via email!

Entrance construction officially began on Monday, February 16th but it wasn't until last week that we really started seeing some initial progress.

Crews are focused on prepping the ditch on the east side of the existing entrance. Cones are in place but please take care when entering and exiting the airport!

It's been a busy few months for our friends at the CAF. Renovations of the hangar are still underway, they're hosting two exciting events in April, and they were recently honored with a prestigious award!
President's Spirit Award
Our very own CenTex Wing was honored at the annual CAF Winter Staff Conference in Midland with the President's Spirit Award. This special award was created by the President for acts or deeds of such a high degree as to surpass the standard Commemorative Air Force awards.

From the CAF President, Stephen C. Brown:

The criteria for this award is that a unit must have demonstrated, in the eyes of the CAF president,  extraordinary, meritorious, and exceptional service to the Commemorative Air Force.

The CenTex Wing displayed exceptional spirit in 2014. The Wing participated in flyovers at major sporting events and eight air expos. They provided Living History Flight Experiences for 260 individuals and fulfilled a "Senior Wish" for a Pearl Harbor survivor. The Wing completed a four-year restoration of the P-39 and made a considerable investment in the restoration of the BT-13. The Wing aggressively sought new members in the 2014 and increased their membership by 45%. Fundraising efforts garnered the wing much needed funds for hangar restoration and a successful Dinner Dance boosted their financial state. When the CAF kicked off the year end giving champagne to support the CAF National Airbase, the CenTex Wing was the first to be 100% "all in" as a unit and challenged all other units to do the same.

The CenTex Wing is hereby presented the Commemorative Air Force President's Spirit Award for 2014 in recognition of their outstanding selfless dedication, enthusiasm and volunteer spirit toward supporting the goals and objectives of the Commemorative Air Force.

Congratulations CAF CenTex Wing!

Why should pilots choose San Marcos?
Great value without compromising quality. San Marcos Regional Airport is ideally located in the growth corridor between Austin and San Antonio. We have a wide variety of some of the best products and services available in the aviation industry (aircraft maintenance, avionics, aircraft paint and interior, fabrication and FBO facilities). As the only official reliever airport for Austin Bergstrom Int'l and San Antonio Int'l, KHYI has everything to attract new businesses and visitors. There is no better value in the Central Texas area than San Marcos Regional airport. We are positioned perfectly between two major metropolitan areas (San Antonio and Austin). We have plenty of room for growth and development without encroaching  on those around us.

In your opinion, how do the City and surround communities benefit from having an airport?
An airport is an extremely valuable asset to any community. It funnels money and opportunity into the community that allows for the survival and growth of everyone in that community. It is an essential part of the community that, when managed and developed properly, can drive prosperity, progress and recognition.
