Today, Charleston County Coroner’s Office announced they have concluded their report regarding the fatality that took place Friday evening and released the following statement:
"An autopsy was performed today, Monday, May 4, 2020, on Cynthia Covert, 57 years of age, who died following an incident involving an alligator on Friday. Witnesses reported that the victim was dragged into the water after she approached an alligator in a lagoon. The incident occurred just before 5:00 p.m., and the victim was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined that Covert drowned and the death was ruled accidental."
