A note from the President...

Dear Members and Friends,

As we step into April, I'm excited to reflect on the activities and accomplishments from the past month. Each event and every volunteer's effort has made an impact on our mission to support the Kids In Distress Agency.

The Movie Night tradition continued with great success on the second Friday of March, offering a night of entertainment and fun for the Southwest campus children, not to mention a respite for the foster parents.

KHK, Kids Helping Kids, held this year's Easter party in Wilton Manors, which was the highlight of the month for the campus kids. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to Emilie and Noah Abel for hosting such a memorable event. They went above and beyond as usual, and Noah made his signature cake to celebrate the monthly birthdays. We were also honored to have a group of wonderful nurses from Joe DiMaggio, along with some of their teenagers, who contributed with the games and bonded with the children.

Our Annual Bingo Night was a huge success and had its biggest turnout yet that sold out at 200 attendees, thanks to Linda's exceptional leadership and her team's hard work. Larry, Linda’s husband, was there to co-MC, and their playful banter contributed to the event's fun vibe.

Looking ahead, I’m pleased to announce a 50% discount on our annual membership fees, making now an ideal time to join us. By becoming a member at this time, you'll be the first to know about our end-of-year celebrations, summer programs, and the activities we have planned for the new academic year starting in August when new membership starts up again.

Our auxiliary thrives on a shared commitment to the Kids In Distress Agency and enjoying every moment of it. For those with teenagers, joining our Kids Helping Kids (KHK) group offers a meaningful way to volunteer and make a difference together.

We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and generous team of women and if you’ve been thinking about becoming a part of our efforts, or know someone who might be, there’s never been a better time. You can learn more on our website at kidaux.org.

Wilton Manors campus.

We played arts and crafts, sack races.

and an egg hunt.

BADA BOOM BADA

On April 4, 200 friends and family gathered at KID Auxiliary Bada Boom Bada Bingo to raise funds for abused and neglected children supported by Kids In Distress programs. It was a wonderful philanthropic night filled with laughter, Italian food, wine and good vibes! Thank you everyone who showed up and all the sponsors, donors and volunteers who made this possible! GRAZIE ❤️🇮🇹

I would like to thank the Bingo committee, all of the Sponsor, Donors and Players who helped make this a record-breaking year for the KID Bingo night. The sponsors and donors have been loyal KID supporters, many who have contributed since its inception in 2009.

Thank you to St. Bonaventure who has given us the use of the Parish Hall during their Spring break the last few years. It’s a perfect venue, and we thank them for their generosity and willingness to pitch in any way they can. Thanks Father Ed, Lisa, Christine & Esteban. Thanks to Meredith O’Keefe for preparing the Power Point with all of our Sponsors and Donors arranged in an Italian colored display of names.

Thanks to my loyal committee who helped get the event organized and are the reason for its success. I am happy to work with them every year. I didn’t mention you by name due to time constraints on Bingo night, but Sue Ray deserves a round of applause for her record keeping system at registration. Leonor Hynes, Lynn Urtel and Linda Patullo handled all of the food, its display and even the clean-up. Thanks to Donna Goodner and MaryEllen Ballotta for always decorating the room with a fun theme. Thanks to Danielle Rocha who wrapped all of the prizes so creatively, and to the members who contributed to the large and varied gift selection; by giving and/or acquiring the donations.

Thanks to our gentlemen servers for the evening, Tom, Chris, Gary, Mark, Tony and Rueben and to our photographer, Cris who captured the fun we all had. Let’s not forget our gondolier, Larry and all of the people behind the scenes and volunteers that worked throughout the day.

I am grateful for all of the offers to help with the planning of Bada Boom Bada Bing-o. It’s truly a team effort. What a dream team!
