Hello, everyone!

I’m excited to share that our first general meeting at Field of Flowers was a tremendous success! It was wonderful to see so many new members. We were honored to have some of the agency’s team join us, including CEO Mark Dhooge, who provided an update on the agency and highlighted some of their upcoming signature events. From Elevate on November 16th to the Fort Lauderdale Art Gala on December 9th, the Hero 5K Run/Walk on January 25th, and the Duck Fest Derby on April 5th, there are so many opportunities to support the agency.

We’re especially excited to co-collaborate on the Hero 5K, and of course, our own popular Bingo event is set for April 24th. As we prepare for these events, we’ll need everyone’s help—whether it’s planning, securing sponsorships, or volunteering on the day. If you’d like to join our event teams, please reach out—we’d love to have you!

I’m thrilled to report that we’ve already exceeded our first drive of the year! Over the summer, our backpack drive was a resounding success. Last year, we collected 90 completed backpacks, but this year, thanks to Lisette Wolf’s leadership, we collected 267 backpacks and 174 school supply kits. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.

Looking ahead, our next initiative is the Thanksgiving Drive, led by our dedicated KHK team. Please contact Cris Bomfim or Rachel Danzig for more information on how you can get involved. We’re also launching our Halloween Costume Drive, headed by Lissette Wolf and Lina Shultz.

Thanksgiving Food Drive Campaign

We are thrilled to kick off the 2024 Thanksgiving Food Drive campaign! Our goal this year is to collect 1600 meal bags and $25K in cash/gift cards. Here is our plan:

Annual KID Hero 5K

The 20th Annual KID Hero 5K presented by UKG and hosted by the KID Auxiliary is a family fun day for all.

On January 25, 2025, participants will release their inner superhero by dressing up in their best costume solo or with sidekicks as they run/walk in support of 20,000+ vulnerable children and families in our community. Virtual participants can join forces from January 5-25, 2025, by running or walking 3.1, anytime…anywhere.

Our goal is to collect $110K and gather 700 participants.

We are looking for adults/teens volunteers to help us to secure some sponsorships (see packet links below) and also promote the run by tagging cars in local races.

Halloween Costume Drive Information

This fall we are supporting KID by providing a special Halloween package and gift to children for Halloween and would love to have your commitment and support!

The Halloween project provides:

a new costume
a durable Trick or Treat Bag (not paper) a large bag of non-chocolate candy (the agency has a party and kids "trick or treat' at the party
Package must be labeled with the Child's name, Age, Gender and program that is listed with their sign-up information.

You can also include fun things like a glow stick or flashlight if you would like.

For current middle and high school students, 5 Service Hours are provided for each complete Halloween Costume package sponsored (max 10 hours).

Sponsors all you need to do is sign up and drop off a Complete Halloween Costume package by 10/11/2024 at the following locations:

Halloween Costume Sign Up Link

KHK Corner

KHK has kicked off the new year strongly with a fantastic back to school party! Kids enjoyed playing outside with foam and with the many volunteers who came out to help. As usual, thank you to our hard-working community! The first East campus movie night was a huge success, and the results of the backpack collection were record-breaking. If you missed these events, don’t worry; there are many ways to stay involved! Movie nights and birthday celebrations continue on the second and third Friday of each month, respectively. Also, the Halloween party, Halloween costume drive, and Thanksgiving drive are all approaching. Keep an eye out for these upcoming opportunities!
