KIOGA Members:

Greetings!   The KIOGA 2021 Midyear Convention, held at the Clarion Inn & Convention Center in Garden City, Kansas on April 14th-16th, surpassed our highest expectations. The meeting attracted 348 participants, making this year’s Midyear meeting the highest attended KIOGA Midyear Meeting. In addition, 28 exhibitors participated in the trade show.

KIOGA’s Midyear Meeting Committee consisting of Cecil O’Brate, Steve O’Brate, and H.J. Swender did an outstanding job putting together a dynamic program.

Participants began the convention on April 14th with a Cruise in Car Show, food, drinks, and entertainment.

Value-added seminars provided business development information and thought-provoking ideas. Eugene Holubnyak of the Kansas Geological Survey and Chris Steincamp of the law firm Depew, Gillen, Rathbun, & McInteer LC provided a very informative presentation on Challenges and Opportunities for Carbon Capture and EOR in Kansas.  In addition, Adam Beren (President of Berexco LLC), David Bleakley (Executive Vice President of Colt Energy, Inc.), and Jake Price (General Counsel for American Warrior, Inc.) provided a very interesting panel discussion on the 2021 Kansas Oil & Gas Outlook.

Meeting participants also toured Palmer Manufacturing - one of the lead manufacturers of fiberglass and steel tanks in the U.S.

The highlight of the KIOGA 2021 Midyear Meeting was the keynote address from South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. Governor Noem provided a phenomenal address on the importance of freedom and values.

Several legislators and government officials participated in the convention including U.S. Senator Dr. Roger Marshall, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt, Kansas State Senators Rick Billinger, Mark Steffen, John Doll, Alicia Straub, Ron Ryckman, Sr.; Kansas House Speaker Ron Ryckman, Jr., Kansas State Representatives Russ Jennings, Ken Rahjes, Tatum Lee-Hahn, Steve Johnson, and Jim Minnix. We also heard State Representative Steve Johnson make his initial announcement for his bid for Kansas State Treasurer.

A special thank you to all our sponsors including our Platinum Sponsor Merit Energy Company, and our two Gold Sponsors CVR Refining and IMA, Inc.  KIOGA sincerely thanks our members, sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees for making the KIOGA 2021 Midyear Meeting a resounding success!
