Greetings KIPP families,

IT IS TIME FOR US TO ACT NOW!

YOU'RE INVITED!

The legislative session in Annapolis has started and we need your help!

Last week, Governor Hogan announced that he had filed House Bill 156/Senate Bill 172 (PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL FACILITY FUND).  This legislation would create a new fund with state dollars that would provide public charter schools up to $1,600 per pupil to help us pay for our facilities expenses. For KIPP, this would be over $2 million a year to help us cover our rent, maintenance costs and the needed renovation for our new building. Click HERE for more information on this important bill.

What can YOU do?
  • Attend the Parent Action meeting on February 12th at 8:30 am or 5:30 pm.   Our state delegation needs to hear from parents (YOU!) that we want this legislation for our students and our school.  This meeting will be all about action. We will write letters asking our State Senators and Delegates to support the bill and eat some pizza while doing it!  Please join us and bring two friends!
  • Come to our Annapolis Lobby Night on February 19th (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm).  We teach our students that showing up is half the battle in this world. We need you to do the same for our lobby night in Annapolis. Sign up to join us (and bring your KIPPster!) in Annapolis by e-mailing Jasmine at jbacot1@kippbaltimore.org .  Agenda, location, and transportation details coming soon! Buses will be provided.

Now is the time to  ACT!

Please join us in February in making our voices heard.

Warm Regards,

Jasmine
