September 15th- October 15th, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! The National Museum of American Latino offers virtual exhibits and resources throughout the month that will highlight the careers and contributions on Hispanic figures of throughout history.


Did you know that Hispanic-Serving Institutions exists?


Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI for short) are colleges or universities that have an enrollment of at least a total 25% of the student body that are Hispanic and Latino. Click here to see a full list of colleges and universities that are considered HSIs.

Information for High School Students

The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential. For more information to apply, click here. The application is due September 15th.

Mission Accomplished is offering two free career mentorship programs that offer stipends up to $1,400. Students who are interested in fashion, cosmetology, construction, and interior design should apply. This is offered to students ages 16-18. Apply to one of the applications linked below:

FirstGenU helps current first-gen college students develop essential career search skills on an entirely self-paced program.

Every year, Microsoft releases an early student program called Microsoft Explore. Microsoft Explore is considered a 12 week internship that usually takes place in the Summer. These are tailored for first and second years who are interested in a career in tech, and value the opportunity to explore different roles and functions of the product development lifecycle. Here are the list of requirements and all the other important information:


  • First Years and Second Years ONLY
  • Enrolled in a college/university program in US, Canada, or Mexico
  • Interested in a technical major (i.e. Computer Science, Computer Engineering)
  • Must have completed an Intro to Computer Science course and one semester of Calculus
  • Here is CS50's Intro to Computer Science course for free: Course Link


When Can I apply?

  • First Years (Freshmen): Applications open on November 6th, 2023.
  • Second Years (Sophomore): Applications open on September 25th, 2023.
