Dear Neighbors,
Last week, the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) voted to sunset its operations following Congress’s elimination of all federal funding for public media. CPB has served stations since 1967 by distributing those federal funds. This was not a vote to dissolve PBS.
What matters most is this: KLRN and PBS will continue. PBS has confirmed a strong lineup of programming, with new projects already underway.
Federal funding represented about 17% of KLRN’s budget. While it will be missed, our station has long relied on diverse revenue sources to further our mission. We remain committed to serving our 33-county region with the same trusted programs, local stories, and educational services that have made KLRN a community pillar for over 60 years.
Thank you for standing with us. Your support makes it possible for KLRN to continue serving South Central Texas for generations to come.
Thanks for watching,
Arthur Emerson
President & CEO
