The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Educators,

This month we are focusing on the themes of love and friendship. Love and friendship are embodied in appreciation, kindness, respect, and honor. The San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum will bring its Black history archives to the grounds of La Villita, opening free to the public Feb. 25 and offers visitors a great opportunity to learn more about San Antonio's Black history. Love and friendship can be achieved by taking the time to actively learn about the history, stories, and accomplishments of our fellow people in the world, not just this month, but all the time.

Now more than ever, love and friendship have the power to positively impact the world. There are many ways to show kindness, friendship, and love that cost nothing - like simply listening and sharing what we value most about those around us. Whether it is in person or virtually, expressing that we appreciate the moments we get to share with those we care about can be meaningful and edifying.

Appreciating the moment is part of being mindful. Here is a wonderful resource that explains mindfulness and how it relates to children: Kids Health: Mindfulness. Additionally, here are some great prompts that encourage mindfulness that you can use when sharing your story on PBS American Portrait. And this beautiful submission by Kristal H. speaks volumes about love and acceptance.

We are all sharing this world together. We are thankful for what you do to make this world a more caring place. Keep doing what you do.

With Appreciation,
KLRN Education Team
