The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Educators,

Each of us can be our best when all of us are doing well. This month, we continue to raise awareness about mental health. The journey towards well-being includes learning about ourselves and each other, and importantly, listening to the stories of people who, all too often, have been omitted from the conversation. In the links below from PBS Learning Media, you will find trustworthy, in-depth, and engaging resources to learn about the stories of incredible people. We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month learning about past and present Latinx leaders in education, science, art, and more. Let us honor the contributions of amazing people and get a more complete picture of their stories, and, in the process, we can even learn more about ourselves.

Friends, there is a lot of hurt and a lot of injustice in the world, but there are people in the world, people like you, who seek to heal. You guide, protect, and help the learners of the world to grow, to be engaged in what they are learning, and to flourish.

As we continue to raise awareness about mental health, emotional well-being, and ways that we can help each other, we invite you to join us for upcoming events that are related to the topic of well being.

Starting September 3, in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, the Ken Burns Documentary Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness will be available for streaming for free through September 17. Hiding in Plain Sight Video Clips and Resources are also available on PBS LearningMedia.

On Saturday, September 10, we invite you to join us for our Virtual Youth Mental Health Summit. This online event is free and open to everyone. All are welcome. If you are attending as an educator, please know that continuing education credit will be offered upon completion of the summit and the accompanying post survey.

More virtual sessions this month include PBS LearningMedia Resources focused on: for Teaching About Climate Change; Exploring Feelings & Emotions with Sesame Street in Communities; and learning how to grow and maintain a community garden with The Healthy Kids Project. Information on how to register is at the bottom of this newsletter and, for a full list of upcoming training sessions and other events, please visit the KLRN Events Page.

Please keep doing what you do; it makes a bigger and more positive difference than words can express.

With Appreciation,

KLRN Education Team
