The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy

and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.

Dear Friends,

You are special! It takes a person with a kind heart to do the work that you do. Your compassion has an important and lasting impact on the people you serve. A little kindness makes a big difference, and friends, you show a lot of kindness!

Black History is American History. We celebrate the achievements of incredible leaders this month, and let us continue to learn and celebrate all year long. Please see details about upcoming events and teacher professional development sessions, along with registration links, at the bottom of this newsletter, in the sections labeled Upcoming In-Person Events and Professional Development Sessions. Thank you to Firstmark Credit Union and the San Antonio Medical Foundation for their support of these KLRN educator sessions. Please learn more about upcoming sessions and events at klrn.org/events.

A lot is happening this month! We are excited to announce that on Saturday, February 22, our gracious hosts at St. Philip’s College are hosting KLRN Career Day 2025! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this fun, STEM-focused event! We hope to shine a light on the multitude of exciting important careers in the field of STEAM! Thank you to our generous supporters who make this event possible: Ready To Learn, Corporations of Public Broadcasting, St. Philip's College and Project SURE. This free family event is open to everyone and features activities, presentations, and more for all ages. We'll be joined by organizations aligned with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), career readiness and STEAM fields. There will also be a special appearance from PBS KIDS characters, Lyla and Stu! You can register here.

Chip Kids is a web series about the science behind how microchips are made and how semiconductors influence our everyday lives. Each episode features a fun, hands-on experiment that can be recreated using ordinary, safe materials. The series and the accompanying learning materials aim to inspire and motivate all students to see STEM careers as exciting opportunities they can achieve. You can watch the series and get helpful guidance through these fun and educational experiments here!

Friends, you are smart, you are brave, you are caring, and you are dedicated. You give hope to so many, especially to those you teach, and you make a positive impact on so many lives. You are amazing!

With Appreciation,
