The mission of KLRN is to open a world of lifelong learning through trustworthy and enriching programs on-air, online and in our community.
Dear Families,

Suddenly, changes are happening all around you and you may not know what to expect or to do. Parents, you are responsible for your child’s complete learning, while also having to address the many other stressors as a result of COVID-19. Let’s be honest, all of these changes can be a lot to deal with and may cause you to not only feel anxious, but they can also lead to feelings of inadequacy. Well, we are here to tell you that now is not the time to be hard on yourself or to criticize yourself for what’s happening. It’s going to take self-compassion, positive self-talk, and self-care and you can do this with the many PBS Kids programs that address these skills. PBS programs such as Clifford, Arthur, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and many more that you can find at PBS.org/parents. At this PBS Website you will locate games, apps, articles and hands on learning activities that will help us all in learning to care for each other. As parents, we can help children learn to care for themselves, have self-compassion and create positive self-talk to be a healthy, successful person.

A great new PBS program that can help children address some of these skills is the endearing new series Rosie's Rules (which takes place right here in Texas!) premieres on October 3, and will air daily on 9.1 at 9am.

Magik Theater Presents World Premiere of
EDDIE & VINNIE
Oct. 15 – 28
(showtimes vary by date)

At its heart, Eddie & Vinnie is a buddy comedy about Eddie, a young boy with dyslexia, and his best friend/pet gecko, Vinnie. Eddie struggles with his schoolwork and faces the possibility of going to summer school if he can’t get his grades up. In a last-ditch effort to get on the honor roll, Eddie teams up with the overly helpful new girl in class to write their end of the year report.  It seems like Vinnie is always there to distract him or, is he really challenging him to lean into his uniquely beautiful mind?
