KLSD ArtsALIVE Spreads Its Wings
Welcome Back to School 2019-2020
We hope everyone had a great start to the new school year. Last year, KLSD ArtsALIVE expanded its reach to encompass all students in the Katonah-Lewisboro schools, as well as the community. Because the KLSD community covers a large geographic area and 5 school buildings, the Board searched for ways to create a bond between all of the schools and grades, as well as a connection to the community at large. They determined the best way to accomplish this mission was to expand. By involving younger students and their parents, the goal is to get them invested in the programs, therefore ensuring and expanding the music, fine arts, and theater curriculum throughout the schools.
We’d like to take a moment to thank you all for your generous contributions to KLSD ArtsAlive of the 2018-2019 school year. Thanks to you, we raised funds for a variety of exciting and enriching programming for all of our students.

At JJHS, there were Field Trips to Lincoln Center: NY Philharmonic Rehearsal, Backstage Tour and Jazz concert, seeing "The Ferrymen” on Broadway, visiting Repertorio Espanol NYC/El Quijote- “Don Quijote of La Mancha” production, engaging with the Omer String Quartet at Caramoor Center of the Arts, the interactive Forensic Art Workshop with Detective Stephen Mancusi and the KLSD ArtsAlive Scholarships for Seniors.

For the first time, we had a presence at the Middle School as well. At JJMS, due to your generosity, we were able to provide a Field Trip to Lincoln Center: NY Philharmonic, Young People’s Concert Series for the 7th & 8th Grade Orchestra , as well as the very popular JJMS “ Music and Mood ” Art Program with artist Lance Johnson & DJ Cosi for the entire school.

Additionally, KLSD ArtsAlive provided new microphones for the JJMS theatre, the insulation of the JJMS art gallery, personalized sweatshirts for the JJHS Vocal Jazz commemorating their Berklee 1st-place win, t-shirts for the performers of the JJMS Rock the Halls Benefit Concert, and art books, as well as a new spotlight, for Increase Miller Elementary School.

We currently have Reps in all of the buildings and have developed partnerships with all of our schools' PTO/PTA organizations as well as the JJHS Sports Booster Club where together we created Music on the Lawn at Homecoming 2018. Our ever popular Encore Benefit Concert was a huge success in which current HS students and alumni share the stage for a Cabaret style enjoyment. This year's Encore was a collaboration of all the different styles of the Arts at the HS from the Visual Arts, Music Tech, Acting, and the Music Programs. We partnered with Halfway to Sanity to share the MS students enjoyment of rock song at their annual Rock the Halls Benefit Concert.

The Student Board of KLSD ArtsAlive met their initial year with success. They were present at the JJHS Annual Club Fair and had meetings throughout the year for the students promoting the Arts at the HS. From manning the Hospitality tables at the Freshman play to decorating the Halls for the Spring Musical of Guys & Dolls , their input has been a huge asset to our organization.

Thank you again for your dedication to keeping the arts alive and thriving at KLSD. The Board has many plans for another successful year in the arts for our for our students.

But, we need your help to do so! Please consider renewing or creating a membership today! Here’s to another terrific year!
Creativity takes courage. – Henri Matisse
