When Mike Timm graduated from KMHS in 2018, his dream was already six years in the making. In 2012, his parents, Steve and stepmom Jackie (our rockstar admin assistant on the KMHS Campus!), took him to the Big 10 Championship Game in Indianapolis to watch the Wisconsin Badgers paste Nebraska 70-31.
And there, under falling confetti, Mike's football dream began.
"The Badgers had just beaten Nebraska 70–31," said Jackie. "When the game ended, we took him down near the field for the trophy presentation and as the confetti dropped, Mike looked around and said 'I'm going to be here someday!'"
Well, someday is this Saturday as Mike and his 15th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes meet 2nd-ranked Michigan at Lucas Oil Stadium. It's been a whirlwind of a year for Timm, who started out with a high ankle sprain to start the season. He battled back to be a big contributor for the Hawkeyes AND, in his fourth season as a preferred walk-on, he was just awarded a scholarship, which begins this upcoming spring!
Congratulations to our former Laser on all the blood, sweat and hard work to make his dream come true. We'll be rooting for him and his teammates to be standing under that confetti at game's end as victors.
