Join us Thursday, October 22 beginning at 5:30 p.m. for different 30-minute online sessions to help you support your child during this unique time.

We will have middle school and district experts host virtual sessions on:
  • 5:30:
  • Understanding your middle school child
  • How you can support your child as a distance learner
  • 6:00 and 6:30 - three simultaneous 30-min sessions on our learning platforms. Choose any two:
  • Canvas
  • MyLC
  • Summit
  • 7:00 - a repeat of the 5:30 sessions.
  • Understanding your middle school child
  • How you can support your child as a distance learner

Links to the sessions will be live from our KMMS website.

The sessions will be recorded. See you then!

We 💖 Our PTO

  • A Busy Week of PTO Activities. MANY THANKS TO:
  • Culver's in Wales and all of you for dining out on Tuesday during the KMMS Night on Tuesday. Things were BUSY!
  • Deputy Jamie Soneberg, our KMSD School Resource Officer for joining our PTO Coffee on Thursday. He provided a lot of good advice for parents and administrators alike.
  • Our PTO for sponsoring a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast this morning (and keeping our Keurig supplies stocked).

Learning Environment
Change Request Period: Oct. 19-23

The next opportunity to commit to a learning environment in KM schools will occur prior to the second quarter/term, which runs Nov. 9, 2020 through Jan. 22, 2021. A link to a change request form will be shared Oct. 19 and will be open through Oct. 23. Another opportunity to request a change in learning environment will occur in January, with the start of term 3.

If you plan to make a change, please consider the impact a potential quarantine might have on your family in the coming quarter/term and select the correct environment. Due to staffing needs and configurations:
  • Changes at the elementary level will likely cause reassignment of your child’s teacher and class configuration, regardless of your family's decision. In addition, changes in either direction will not be honored after October 23.
  • KM will not be able to honor changes at the middle and high school levels from distance learning to face-to-face learning after October 23.
  • At the high school level, selecting distance learning may alter your student’s term 2 course selections.
NOTE: This change request form is only necessary if you want to change your environment for the second quarter/term, which begins Nov. 9.
Informances for the 7th and 8th Grade Bands

Through gusty winds, driving rain, heat, and jackhammers, your children have been doing an amazing job in band this fall! Before the cold weather drives us inside, we would like to present an outside informance of music.
An informance is a little different from a concert. The songs will not be as polished, we will play two or three songs, and it will be relaxed. We might even need to restart a song or two. It’s really hard to hear outside! The informances will last around 15-20 minutes.

The days we will be hosting informances, are as follows:

Wednesday, October 21st: Create 7th Grade 12:10

Thursday, October 22nd: 8th Grade 7th hour 12:40
 8th Grade 8th hour 1:25
Friday, October 23rd: 7th Grade before lunch band 9:45
7th Grade after lunch band 11:10

Please ask your child which band they are in. If you can’t make it, we will be sending out a recording.
Forensics

Where can a student make new friends while learning to speak with conviction?

The KM Forensics Team, of course.

The Forensics Team will hold a student/parent meeting this week. Each year our team develops academic skills essential to succeed in high school and beyond. Our virtual meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 6 to 7 pm, with Mr. and Mrs. Kaldhusdal.
