Start the Day Right!
The school year is well under way. The snow and slippery roads may be here sooner than we'd like.
The office staff and teachers would like to remind students and parents that the school day begins at 7:20am. Students should be in their classrooms and ready for announcements at that time. Students who arrive after 7:20am are required to stop in the office to sign in and will be marked tardy.
Parent PD
Thanks to those parents that were able to attend our Parent Professional Development last night (October 22nd) featuring sessions on Understanding Your Middle Schooler and Supporting Your Distance Learning Middle Schooler, as well as sessions on the different learning platforms we use here (Canvas, MyLC, and Summit).
We will be posting our recordings of the sessions to our website early next week. Please reach out with any questions you have.

Our Virtual Book Fair is 10/26-11/8.

Watch for the shopping link on Monday.

Take time over the weekend to look over the book fair flyer and author video for some great book ideas.

Learning Environment
Change Request Period: Oct. 19-23

The next opportunity to commit to a learning environment in KM schools will occur prior to the second quarter/term, which runs Nov. 9, 2020 through Jan. 22, 2021.
The link to a change request form was shared Oct. 19 and will be open through Oct. 23. If you missed the email, you may click this link.
Another opportunity to request a change in learning environment will occur in January, with the start of term 3.

If you plan to make a change, please consider the impact a potential quarantine might have on your family in the coming quarter/term and select the correct environment. Due to staffing needs and configurations:
  • Changes at the elementary level will likely cause reassignment of your child’s teacher and class configuration, regardless of your family's decision. In addition, changes in either direction will not be honored after October 23.
  • KM will not be able to honor changes at the middle and high school levels from distance learning to face-to-face learning after October 23.
  • At the high school level, selecting distance learning may alter your student’s term 2 course selections.
NOTE: This change request form is only necessary if you want to change your environment for the second quarter/term, which begins Nov. 9.
