Hello KMMS families,

Our first semester only has four school days left! This is an important time of the year for students to wrap up their first semester and start the second semester on a strong note. Some students will start new elective classes, depending on their grade-level and what classes they are currently taking. This would be a good time to check in with your students about the semester change.

KMMS presented to our school board this past Tuesday night. Here is the link - School Board Broadcasts. Our KMMS team presented data about our academics and school goals. In addition, we focused on the work we are doing with our students on how they are treating each other. If you are interested, please watch and let Laura and me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for a great first half of the school year,

Matt Kitzerow

KMMS Carson Scholars Award Nominee

KMMS is proud to name 8th grader Grace D. as our nominee for the 2023 Carson Scholars Award. The purpose of the Carson Scholars Program is to recognize and reward outstanding students in the United States who exemplify academic excellence and humanitarian qualities.  Grace is being honored for her leadership inside and outside of our school, including serving as a WEB leader at KMMS and as a reading and writing assistant at Dousman Elementary. Grace also displays tremendous academic achievement and citizenship, providing an excellent example for students younger than her. Way to go, Grace!

KMMS True Grit Award

This semester, KMMS partnered with the Lake Country Optimist Club to offer a new award opportunity to our students: the True Grit Award. This award is given to a student displaying exemplary resilience, perseverance, and optimism while also modeling the respectful and responsible behavior associated with being a true Laser! We are pleased to announce that 8th grader Jacee W. has been selected as our school's winner of the True Grit Award for the 2022-23 year. Jacee is well-deserving of this award due to her remarkable personal growth and belief in herself this year. Keep up the great work, Jacee!

KMMS Supports Healing Hearts of Waukesha

Mrs. Cowan along with the Student Ambassadors raised money during National Children's Grief Awareness week to support the non-profit organization Healing Hearts of Waukesha. This organization offers many programs to support children through their journey of loss, whether through death or even divorce. We were happy to be able to support such an amazing cause!

Waiting After School

Students who are waiting to be picked up after school should all wait in the open area by the front doors. We’ve had an increased number of students wandering around the school after school hours. For safety purposes, all students should be by the front doors. We ask that families arrange rides to pick up their students as soon as possible after the end of the day. Thank you for your assistance.

Learning Lab - Mon-Wed @ KMMS

Learning Lab meets in the library right after school until 4:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The purpose of Learning Lab is to give students a chance to get their homework done in a quiet, safe, supervised place after school. You do not need to sign up ahead of time - just show up! If you are still in the building after school, it is expected that you are in an activity like Learning Lab, and that you are participating and getting work done!
