KMMS Band Students Accepted
into the WSMA Middle Level
Honors Ensembles

Congratulations to the following KMMS Band students who were chosen to participate in the WSMA Middle Level State Honors Band and Orchestra: Carli H, flute, Brooke M, percussion, and Emma M, french horn. This is a big honor because students audition and are chosen from the top students around the entire state of Wisconsin. The Middle Level Honors groups offer musically  accomplished youth the opportunity to rehearse and perform with nationally-known conductors in a professional setting. All Honors groups perform at the Wisconsin State Music Conference. The rehearsal and concert will occur at the Verona Area High School Auditorium in late October 2022.
End of the Year Behavior Expectations

Parents, we are asking for conversations at home to help with end of the year behaviors. We are seeing an uptick in behavior incidents both in school and on the bus. Please have conversations with your student(s) about making wise choices these last weeks of the school year. We want every student to be able to attend the upcoming end of the year activities, however, behavior incidents may affect students ability to participate.
Thank you for your support and help with this.
KMMS Summer Reading Challenge

Let's all keep reading over the summer! This year our Summer Reading Challenge is to read, track your minutes, and write 3 brief book reviews. Your child received their own calendar and "book shelf" to keep track of minutes and books read from their literacy teacher. In case they misplace it, here is the link to a spare copy. Happy Reading!!
EPI School Supply Sale

Our EPI school supply sale is live and online. You may wish to order the majority of your students' supplies now rather than spending time shopping for them in the summer months. Orders will be delivered to KMMS in mid-August for pick up. H
This is the link for our sale. Our school code is KET015.
KMMS Lost & Found Items

Our Lost & Found is bursting at the seams with items that have lost their owners. There are many clothing and winter wear items, jewelry and electronic items and water bottles. Please encourage your student to visit the Lost & Found box in the front entry hallway to rescue lonely items. Our student volunteers will be packing up lost items at the end of May. Un-rescued items will be donated on June 10th.
Combination Locks Home for Summer

Middle school students were provided with a combination lock to use on their locker this year. Students will bring those locks home with them at the end of the school year. Please help your 6th and 7th grade student(s) find a safe place to store their lock. Students will be assigned a new locker and should bring their locks back in the fall. Students who lose their lock will be able to purchase a new one at the start of the new school year.
Eighth grade students may keep their locks to use at high school and beyond.
Thank you to the PTO and all who supported the end of the year celebration for our teachers and staff members. We appreciate you all very much.

HWY 67 Under Construction

As you may have seen by posted signs on HWY 67, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) will soon begin a significant project to improve HWY 67. The DOT provided a project website, where it states: “This project will be resurfacing 10 miles of pavement on WIS 67 between the Villages of Eagle and Dousman. Access will be maintained to all residences and businesses, as well as to the Kettle Moraine State Forest.”

The DOT told school officials they are planning to keep the road open for local traffic, so Highway 67 will not be entirely closed at any point. At times, there will be soft shutdowns with flaggers directing local traffic - which includes buses and staff/parent vehicles - for areas within the project, which will begin south and finish north in Dousman.

This resurfacing project, expected to be completed by mid-summer, does not affect our pick-up/drop-off patterns at Kettle Moraine Middle School. When the project gets closer to our Dousman/KMMS campus, we expect to experience some traffic delays/slower going.

For more information on the project, visit https://projects.511wi.gov/67/full-project-overview/.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
