Hello KMMS families,
“It is a great day to be a Laser… when we are treating people well,” can be heard on our announcements each Friday from either myself or Ms. Lloyd. In the spirit of Thanksgiving coming up, as well as recognizing and appreciating the great things happening in our community (Go Lasers!), Ms. Lloyd’s message this morning focused on gratitude. Here are some strategies she suggested to students to personify a mindset of gratitude:
- Say ‘Thank You’
- Acknowledge Other People’s Efforts
- Develop A Positive Mindset
- Volunteer And Give Back
A positive mindset goes a long way in how we relate to others and how we treat them. I find that I have to be intentional to maintain a positive mindset and remain grateful. The book Effortless by Greg McKeon speaks to the power of gratitude and offers a great strategy. Greg suggests following each complaint you make with a statement of gratitude. Here it goes…
“While it seems very early in the year to have all of this snow and it is quite windy and cold today… I am thankful to live in a state that has four beautiful seasons.”
Stay warm and have a great weekend,
