Hello KMMS families,

I hope your October is wrapping up nicely. We are getting into the heart of the school year and many exciting learning opportunities are happening. In addition to our Citizenship and Personal Development goal, we have an Academic Excellence goal which states, “All students will engage in goal setting practices to impact academic growth with support from educators.” The academic growth will be measured by MAP assessment and progress on the continuums in each content area.

Being new to KMMS, I have to say I am so impressed with our students and the way they engage in the goal-setting process. Students discuss, create, and reflect on goals regularly with teachers and their mentor. Ask your student about what their goal is in each of their classes!

We look forward to seeing families next week at Parent Teacher Conferences. Be on the lookout for messages from teachers on how to sign up. Our conference dates are the evening of 11/4/22 and the morning of 11/15/22.

Have a great weekend,

Listening Sessions

with Mr. Plum

Students in each house had an exciting opportunity to be heard by the superintendent about their school experience, the culture of KMMS, and bullying/harassment.

Mr. Plum will take the information that he gleans from these sessions and work with our leaders to continually improve our building and culture.

KMMS Band Students Recognized

Congratulations to Makena W and Charlie B, two KMMS 8th grade band students, who submitted ideas that were chosen for the ComMission ONE project for the Beyond the Notes Music Festival. Makena's and Charle's ideas were 2 of just 15 winning ideas that were chosen out of nearly 100. These ideas will be given to nationally recognized composer Viet Cuong to consider for a new band composition. Because of their great ideas, KMMS bands will get a free copy of the composition Mr. Cuong will write for the festival.
