6th Grade Band

Dear KMMS Band Parents,

We are happy to officially welcome you as 6th grade families to KMMS! The 6th grade bands are excited to be playing their instruments and are looking forward to showing you what they have learned so far. The teachers will also share tips on what you as parents can do to encourage and guide your child when they are practicing at home.

We are calling this first concert experience an “Informance” because it is a combination of information about band and part performance. The “Informances” will be on Monday, October 11 at KMMS in the large gym

  • 1st hour students should report at 6:15 pm and the “Informance” will start at 6:30 pm.

  • 2nd hour students should report at 7:00 pm and the “Informance” will start at 7:15 pm.

The Informance will be approximately 30 minutes in length

Students will report to the band room to get their instruments and binders. Parents may go directly to the gym to be seated.

There is no special concert dress for this first performance. Students should just wear what they normally wear to school.

We are looking forward to meeting you!

Mary Burczyk, Cathe Kuehn, and Nate Weiss,
KMMS band teachers

KMMS Needs Your Help
in STOPPING Vandalism!

We are experiencing some continued bathroom vandalism in our boy's bathrooms here at school that have led to the closure of one of our boys bathrooms. One of the major incidents is the intentional turning of the sink faucet heads that ends up breaking the faucets. This can lead to a cost of $500 per faucet with replacement and plumbing repair that is needed to replace/fix the faucets. Our School Resource Officer, Deputy Soneberg, has been helping by monitoring the bathroom and talking to individuals that were in the bathroom at the time frame of each vandalism incident. Students who found to be participating in vandalism incidents at school will be referred to local law enforcement, in addition to receiving consequences here at school.

We are asking for conversations at home to help end this issue. Thank you for your support in keeping our resources and school community members safe.
BOOK FAIR NEXT WEEK!

The PTO will be running the Scholastic Book Fair NEXT WEEK! Monday Oct. 11 through Friday Oct. 15! We are super excited to hold the book fair IN THE SCHOOL this year and hope you will be able to join us!

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help run the fair. In order to find out more and to sign up to help, please follow this link and create a username and password so that you can see the opportunities for volunteering and choose your spot.

6th GRADE BAND FAMILIES - please plan on stopping at the book fair before or after you BAND CONCERT on Monday Night!

SUMMER READERS - Please stop by the book fair (and bring your friends) to use your $10 scholastic dollars to buy a book. Certificates for Summer Readers will be handed out on Monday morning.

eWALLET - eWallet is a digital payment option that gives students a secure, cash-free way to shop the book fair. Parents can create an eWallet account online which can be looked up or scanned for payment at the fair. This eliminates the need to send money to school. Each student will need to have their own eWallet account as accounts cannot be shared or transferred. eWallet funds will never expire and can be spent at the Scholastic store online after the fair ends or at a future book fair. Or if you wish to donate to the All for Books Program, funds under $5 that are left in your eWallet account may be donated. The All for Books program is used to purchase more books for KMMS's classroom libraries and is matched by Scholastic to purchase books for literacy non-profits like Kids In Need Foundation.

The Book Fair is important to our school. The money that we raise from the book fair has allowed us to buy new books for the literacy teachers and support the summer reading program. Thank you in advance for your support.

KMMS Fire/Evacuation Drill Update

On Wednesday morning this week we practiced our full building Fire Drill and then moved into our Evacuation Drill. This drill involved walking to one of our Rally Points. The local police, fire and rescue crews were available during that time to assist. The administration would like to thank all students and staff and emergency personnel for their cooperation and efforts.

Parents of students who had their photos taken this week will be receiving an email with order information within the next few days. If you do not receive an email from Empire Photography by the end of next week, please check your spam box or email Empire at [email protected]
