Hello KMMS families,

We hope your student is settling in well to begin the school year. Like I said last week, the family-school partnership will pay dividends. You may be asking yourself, how will I know if my student is settling in well to begin the school year? Here are some questions you may ask at home to get started -

  • Are you getting comfortable with your schedule?
  • Do you know how to seek help from your teachers when needed?
  • How are other students treating you? How are you treating other students?
  • Have you sat with anyone new at lunch?
  • Do you have a friend or have you met someone outside of your house?

The last question is very important to us at KMMS. While we love the choice and unique offerings of each house, the 3-house structure can create a divide among students. We plan on addressing the divide this school year to help contribute to a positive school culture.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Matt Kitzerow

Kettle Moraine Middle School

Family Advisory Council

Kettle Moraine Middle School is continuing with a Family Advisory Council. The purpose of this group is to provide input and feedback on a variety of issues around learning and life at KMMS.  We are entering "Year 2" of the Family Advisory Council and have 12 returning members from our first year. Our goal is to add a few more representatives from our current 6th grade families as well as a few 4th and 5th grade families. The group will have people representing multiple grade levels, environments, and perspectives.

If you are interested in joining the KMMS Family Advisory Council, please complete this short form: KMMS FAC Form. Thank you for considering!

Review: AM Drop Off Protocols:

Please only drop students off at the designated spot; in the drop off line at the south side of the building near the sidewalk.

We have seen more and more cars using the middle parking lot in front of the school for drop off. Using this spot as a drop off point is dangerous to our students and to vehicles. There have been near misses of cars colliding with students and other cars in the recent mornings. Please be patient in the drop off line so that all of our students and families will be safe arriving at school in the morning.

Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe!

Attendance Reporting

Using the IC Portal

If your student will not be in school, will be arriving late or leaving early, parents may put that information into Infinite Campus (24/7) by clicking the "More" button and choosing "Absence Requests." Parents may also call the attendance line at 956-6500.

Learning Lab - Mon-Wed @ KMMS

Learning Lab meets in the library right after school until 4:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. The purpose of Learning Lab is to give students a chance to get their homework done in a quiet, safe, supervised place after school. You do not need to sign up ahead of time - just show up! If you are still in the building after school, it is expected that you are in an activity like Learning Lab, and that you are participating and getting work done!

Teacher/Staff Breakfast

Thank you Teacher Appreciation Committee! The KMMS staff loved the breakfast on Wednesday and will continue to enjoy the coffee selections!
