Dear KMS Families, 

We look forward to the start of our second semester and third quarter of the 2022-23 School year on Tuesday, January 3rd. Remember that your student's "Encore" class changes beginning on Tuesday when he/she returns. If necessary, please refer to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal link provided below to view your student's schedule. Our office staff will also be ready to help any students needing assistance upon their arrival. We hope to begin the 2023 calendar year with the same success that we enjoyed during the 2022 calendar year. We are proud to be a part of this community and enjoy the partnerships that we have developed with you, your students, and your families. We wish you a Happy New Year and a joyous, healthy start to 2023!

All student absences require a phone call or written notice from a parent or guardian in order to be excused. The weeks leading up to winter break seemed like an appropriate time to remind families of the following information from our student Handbook.

Vacations are strongly discouraged during the school year. In the unforeseen circumstance that a family trip MUST be taken during the school year, students are responsible for the work missed. Students who will miss school, for vacation or other anticipated reasons, MUST complete a Planned Absence Notification form (available in the KMS Office and on the KMS website) and turn it in, at least one week prior to the absence. Absences due to vacation are subject to the parameters of Ohio Revised Code.

The student is given the number of days, equal to the absence, to make up the work; however, it is the student's responsibility to follow through on this. Teachers should not be expected to provide make-up tutoring or special assignments for students who miss valuable instructional time. A maximum of five (5) days will be permitted for vacations.

We work very hard at making sure every student is present and accounted for, each period of each day.
